Over Half Of Consumers Believe Self-Service Checkouts Save Time

According to the latest Consumer Insights report from Empathy Research, the best thing about self-scanning checkouts in stores is that they ‘save time’ (56%) or generally have ‘shorter queues’ (55%).

Consumer spend rise drives supermarket sales

Irish consumers’ grocery shopping spend rose by 3.6% over the past 12 weeks — despite rising prices — providing further evidence that household finances are strengthening. Latest data from consumer insights agency, Kantar Worldpanel — covering the period to March 1 — proves shopper spend has grown by over 3% in each of the last three 12-week reporting periods.

What is International Women’s Day ?

International Women’s Day – 8th March                                                                       

international womens dayInternational Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women’s Day is a national holiday.

CPM is a true believer in equality in the workforce with over 150 women currently employed by CPM in a variety of office and field roles.

CPM will be celebrating International Women’s Day throughout the week with pictures of strong leading women in our business and roles they play in the organisation,

We will be publishing on our website and blog, interviews with leading women in our business, outlining how they succeeded in their career to date and what the road ahead looks like as well as tips to inspire young women who wish to follow in their career footsteps.

We will also be recognising and showing our appreciation for the women of CPM at the end of the week by offering them some treats throughout the day including a breakfast treat courtesy of their male colleagues as well as 10 minute makeovers & drinks reception in the afternoon!

And in true CPM fashion anyone participating in the treats in CPM at the end of week will be donating to Women less fortunate – our local Women’s Refuge in Rathmines.

Dublin voted fifth best shopping city in world

Readers of Conde Nast Traveller have voted Dublin in fifth place in a new poll of the planet’s top 24 shopping destinations. Bustling Barcelona tops the rankings, with Philadelphia, Hong Kong and Chicago in second, third and fourth places respectively. Exactly half of the shopping destinations in the prestigious list are cities in the US, while just eight are European.

Innovation On The Agenda For Irish Businesses In 2015, Study Finds

Close to half (45%) of Irish businesses are planning to create new products and services in 2015, according to a study by innovation agency jump!. The study, which surveyed 79 businesses in Ireland (and 102 in the UK) across a broad range of industry sectors, found that 97% of Irish businesses surveyed see innovation as being important to their future success with 52% indicating that innovation will be a ‘primary focus’ in their organization.

Richard Branson and his ability to connect with others

Richard BransonOn a day like today in 1950, was born Richard Branson, an English business magnate and investor. He is best known as the founder of Virgin Group, which nowadays comprises more than 400 companies.

Richard is an entrepreneur and an innate sales man, with a seemingly insatiable appetite for starting new businesses. According to the Forbes 2011 list of billionaires, Branson is the fourth richest British citizen and 254th richest person in the world.

Branson is also well known for his personal adventures. He has a flamboyant character and has taken part in a number of gruelling adventure challenges, such as sailing crossing the Atlantic Ocean in the “Virgin Atlantic Flyer”, which was the first and largest hot air balloon to cross the ocean.

Retail specialist makes another acquisition

A BUSINESS that helps shops make the most of their displays has made its second acquisition in six months as it continues to grow.

eXPD8, based in Orchard Street, in the Centre, has bought the field marketing division of Tradewins Ireland, building on its presence in the country and increasing group turnover to over £20 million. Continue reading

Ireland tests smartphone-enabled produce display

Total Produce’s stands let consumers download fresh produce videos by tapping the NFC symbol on the unit’s side with their smartphone. There is no need to scan a quick response code.

Two stand types will be trialed.

The first are TOP stands branded “Love Local” that promote local produce. These stands link to short videos of growers, designed to reassure consumers on quality and emphasize retail commitments to support local produce.

The second stand, branded TOP “Fresh n Ready,” is for convenience outlets and offers simple produce recipe videos uploaded daily.
