Discounters are a threat to convenience retail

The NACS Insight Convenience Summit – Europe kicked off earlier this week in Berlin, bringing together convenience and fuel retailing industry professionals from around the world to discuss new ideas and gain new commercial connections. Yesterday, the Summit moved to London, for two full days of general sessions and a day of Retail Study Tours, as well as Thursday’s presentation of the International Convenience Retail Awards.

Grafton Street recovery augurs well for health of retail sector

Grafton Street is often cited as a barometer for the retail sector, and latest figures suggest a recovery in rents and values is well under way. Zone A rents on the street peaked in 2006 at around €10,000 per sq m (€929 per sq ft). This meant rents on Dublin’s premier shopping street were on a par with the Champs- Élysées, Oxford Street and Gran Via in Madrid.

Guinness StorehouseFor the fifth year in a row, CPM has been rewarded at the Irish Sales Awards, which was held on June 11th in the Guinness Storehouse. Kevin Thomas, National Sales Manager for CPM’s SME business team for eircom, won the Champion Field Sales Manager 2015 and was also awarded as the Overall Irish Sales Champion 2015.

The 5th Annual Irish Sales Champion Awards celebrates the competitive spirit, ingenuity and tenacity of Irish sales personnel on the front line and acknowledge these positive individuals in three key areas: sales consultants/ representatives; behind the scene sales support; technology/Sales tools providers.

One In Five Consumers Consider Food Allergies Or Restrictions When Shopping

The latest Consumer Insights study from Empathy Research has found that just over one in five (22%) Irish adults suffer from food allergies or food restrictions which they must take into consideration when grocery shopping.

Almost one in four of the 1,011 surveyed (24%) have someone in their household with restrictions that have to be taken into account when shopping.

Ireland Retail Sales Growth Quickens For Fifth Month

Ireland’s retail sales growth quickened for a fifth consecutive month in April, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday. The retail sales volume climbed a seasonally adjusted 11.9 percent year-over-year in April, faster than March’s revised 9.9 percent increase.
