Retail sales surge but shop owners still struggling

Irish retail sales climbed nearly 9% in March from a year earlier on a sharp jump in car sales, data showed yesterday, adding to signs that the country’s economic recovery is gathering pace. However, there remain concerns that high street retailers are continuing to struggle.

Retail sales volumes were up 8.9% in March compared to a year earlier, the data from the Central Statistics Office showed. Sales climbed 1.7% on a month-on-month basis, driven sales of cars, furniture and lighting. Continue reading

IMPACT OF SEASONS ON BRANDS

IMPACT OF SEASONAL CAMPAIGNS IN RETAIL

Easter weekend has come to a close althought it feels like it was here since not long after Christmas for anyone who regularly visits grocery stores. That means we had over two months to decide on what Easter eggs to buy but yet I still struggled to make the decision closer to the time about what Eggs to purchase because nothing really stood out to me. Is it that I’ve seen the same displays for so long that they all blend in to one?

The same thing is true of Back to School, Halloween and Christmas. Back to School can be seen as soon as the kids start their holidays, Halloween is visible from early September, and Christmas, well that’s been known to start as early as the end of summer (Brown Thomas Christmas Store opening in August).

It’s understandable that Brands may want to have their product out early for a number of reasons such as: securing the site as early as possible for fear that they may lose premium space to competitors, or in the hope that people purchase way in advance, to then consume the product and purchase again before the actual season arrives.

And for Retailers maybe it’s getting the next seasonal stock in earlier and earlier to move product through the store and have a reason to boost slower months?

Whatever the reason, it seems like there needs to be a balance between duration and quality of impact.

So the question we want to answer is how to make more of an impact during Seasonal events.

Ireland tests smartphone-enabled produce display

Total Produce’s stands let consumers download fresh produce videos by tapping the NFC symbol on the unit’s side with their smartphone. There is no need to scan a quick response code.

Two stand types will be trialed.

The first are TOP stands branded “Love Local” that promote local produce. These stands link to short videos of growers, designed to reassure consumers on quality and emphasize retail commitments to support local produce.

The second stand, branded TOP “Fresh n Ready,” is for convenience outlets and offers simple produce recipe videos uploaded daily.

Irish Sales Champion Award Winner

Award Winning Field Sales Staff

Irish Sales Champion Award WinnersWe’re busily working away on our submissions for the Irish Sales Champion Awards 2014  and looking back it makes us remember the importance of recognising our Field Sales Talent in our business.

It’s not just being recognised by their company that motivates Field Sales Personnel; it’s being recognised by their industry.

That’s the main reason why we at CPM take part in the Irish Sales Champion Awards 2014 . We want Field Sales Teams to be proud of what they do, be recognised not just by CPM but by their industry peers and have the confidence to say that they work for an Award Winning Sales Team.

This Year we plan to enter submissions for both Door to Door Sales as well as Retail Sales. The Irish Sales Champion Awards are a great accolade for both CPM and our Sales Teams.

ISC Awards celebrates the competitive spirit, ingenuity and tenacity of Irish sales personnel on the front line. The Awards acknowledge these positive individuals in three key areas: Sales representatives; Behind the scene sales support; Technology/sales tools providers.

Take a look at some of great Field Sales successes we’ve had at the ISC Awards over the past 3 years:

Corporate Social Responsibility

As a field sales and marketing company our key focus is people. Without our people we cannot function.
Our culture is very important at CPM and part of our culture is about providing people with the power to do great things.
While we do not have a full Corporate Social Responsibility programme we do encourage our people to get involved and create opportunities to make a difference.
